You beat me to it, I want to upgrade my shocks as well. Im struggling between 13" or 12". I guess the only way to find out is to buy a set. I think I am gonna go with heavy duty, I'm pushing 240 pounds plus I might have a passenger from time to time.

I replaced my 11.75" stock shocks with 13.5" Progressive 440 standards. If I had to had it to do over I would get 13" because my top muffler gently taps the bottom of the right shock when Idling at times. I understand that the R model had a dent in the muffler for that reason. I weigh right at 200 so the standards are perfect. Remember that the bike will raise just under half of the additional length.

I'm right at 200lbs and have the standard duty 12" 412 shocks. Of the 5 adjustment positions, I ride right in the middle at #3, and go up one click when my wife is on the back. Have not needed the stiffest setting yet, maybe if we were loaded up with gear.

Put on 412 this afternoon. Stock were 11" so I kept it at 11". My theory is that professional engineers designed the bikes geometry. In high school I failed geometry....so don't mess with it. However, after a test run I think I should have dropped the extra cash and gotten 430's. I cannot tell a difference between 412 and stock.
