What are the other models shock heights? I honestly don't know. However there are other factors that influence a bikes geometry. For instance wheel diameter, rake and trail of the forks. My point is that you should arbitrarily change one aspect.

My 2007 Low came with 11.75 rear shocks. I replaced them with 13.5 shocks from a 2007 Roadster.

HTH.

Just purchased 11.5" 412s for the 2010 I'm picking up in a week. Will provide an update/review after I install them.

So I went ahead and bought a pair of 12" 412's (Heavy Duty) and went ahead and purchased the front fork mono tube suspension for my Forty-Eight. I can't wait to feel the night and day difference people have been claiming. Anything is better than stock. It's always fun finding new projects to do on the bike.

I don't want to raise the height of the 48, but i'm 250, and wondering if the 12" 412's heavy duty would be good. when I hit a bump the stock shocks sound like they're going to explode lol

I went with the 12" to provided a little bit more travel. I got heavy duty because im around 240 and probably will be carrying some honey's in the back. If I don't like em' you'll see em' on Ebay fairly quickly.

See this statement concerns me, as two posts up the guys says he loves his 412's and you don't see a difference from the stock? I'm thinking of buying these 412's but there is such a swing in opinion? They aren't cheap either so I don't want to roll the dice. I'm 175 in gear and the stock is brutal.

FairBanks, the clue is in the length he stated. 11" is just not long enough to be much of an improvement. As I stated back a ways I went with 13.5" because more length == better ride and handling. Riding mine 900 miles like I did weekend before last always reminds me that I made a great choice.

I'd definitely like to know how they work. I'm around 240 also. Looking at a 48 for my next purchase, and I wanna have all my ducks in a row before I make the jump. Especially after all the reading about the stock shocks.

I installed the 412's last night. The install was pretty easy. I took it on a test ride and there is an improvement in handling. I hit a few potholes intentionally and the 412's did really well. I did notice that the front fork springs is the problem. I purchased the mono tube assembly to complete the package. I am sure with the mono tube cartridge and the 412's together will drastically improve the overall ride on my forty-eight.
