Default Battery cover fastening

I had to charge my battery the other day. put battery cover on, went for a ride and the cover popped off except for the bottom metal hook.
The only thing, as you probably know, that's holding this on is that hook on the bottom and two plastic nubs on the top part.
Is there a better way to secure the battery cover to the bike?
Seems like these nubs will wear down after only a couple battery changes/charges.

You didn't state what year your sporty is but on my 2006 they have updated plastic clips now. They are still cheep, but mine never came off after I upgraded to the newer ones.

Harley has recently updated the clips.
Tie wraps is the easiest & most secure way to stop the cover from coming off.

New clips are available...zip ties work as well. Some have even put screws in it.

Create a slit in the plastic clip. Securing the zip-tie is not required. With this arrangement, and a little patience, I could remove and re-install the same zip-tie with the seat attached. It helps to leave a little of the zip-tie sticking out, as shown. I only used one tie, on the front clip.

I drilled a hole into front clip (with battery cover on) and dropped a short nail into that hole. Seat keeps this nail in place.

Similar fix here. I drilled a small hole and screwed in a small eye screw. Secure and easy to remove.

Cloth Velcro cable ties work well, too. Go around the bike frame and thru the slit in the cover.
