Default Can I go from abs to disk?

So far this season I've had to perform two emergency stops while going through a narrow busy Main Street. What I have found is that my bad knees prevent me from pumping the rear brakes. Yep you guessed it, I ended up fish tailing (saved it both times though). With that said I would like to avoid this happening again especially when the ol lady is on the back.

Is it possible to go from abs to disk? My last bike was disk and I had no issues.

What year bike do you have? Is it a Sportster?

ABS is on some new bikes (I think), but they all have disc brakes. Do you want to disable your ABS? Does not seem a good idea if you cannot properly operate rear brake as is. It was not the ABS that caused a fishtail. You are not supposed to pump the brakes with ABS. Just apply steady pressure, let the ABS do it's job.

Wouldn't an Anti-lock Breaking System save you from having to pump the brakes?

09 sport. Says it has abs on some sticker on the side.
What was the cause then? If not the abs, I've done plenty of emergency stops with the last bike that did not have abs and never fish tailed. So the only conclusion I can see is abs.

Perhaps only the front brake is abs.

Perhaps? Either way I can't physically do it in that position lol. So maybe they aren't working right?

AFAIK ABS was introduced with the 2014 models. If you have a 2009, it does not have ABS, the main point of which is to free you from "pumping" the brakes.

Post a pic of said sticker? Not an available option but would like to see sticker and where it was on bike exactly?
