What is this wire for?

What is this wire for?
After 2 days of 3 steps forward and 1 step back while installing at hammer 1250 kit and cams, I accidentally pinched this wire while torquing down the rear cylinder. I got it out and im going through my heat cycles to break in the motor. Well, after a few cycles the bike wont start. Im thinking maybe the battery is low so hopefully charging it will work. But I still want to know what this wire is for. If its damaged, I guess i need to fix it. But the bike did start and run.
