Default Slippery Seat

Hi All,
I have a 2014 XL883L and I find the seat to be really slippery when I put my textile riding pants on. When I wear jeans it's fine, but I would like the protection of my firstgear pants on the highway. I tried to look for a seat grip but only came up with Harley's air seat cushion which is $80. So here is my first attempt at a homemade option. It's just extra tough shelf liner from HomeDepot. I will be testing it out tonight or tomorrow. What do you guys think?

I hope that it works for you. It certainly is not very pleasing to the eye but safety is always first.

If it works well I will refine it some. I could probably get away with a strip about 3-4 inches wide across the middle of the seat or if anyone has any other ideas on how to tackle this issue I would appreciate it.

How about some velcro on the seat and your cheeks? or, have someone sew that no slide pad to your britches? Seriously, it might not look that bad if done correctly.

Football players used to put stick um on their gloves. I wonder if something like that would help.

Function over form.
If it works for you awesome.
Yet only con I can think of is moisture retention from rain/ fog.

Good point, I'll keep an eye on it.

It worked really well, looks like I saved $75. Took the bike up to the mountain pass last night in High Wind, hit 80mph a few times with no issues. My wife cried laughing at "not pleasing to the eye" it's so true, Lol. It's working though and the rubbery non slip material added a gel type feeling to the seat as well.

Great idea. I use that shelf-liner or similiar on a work bench to hold smaller pieces of wood or aluminum while using a power sander. Grippy stuff.
+1 on adhering it to the pants, not the saddle. Maybe spray contact cement. Without a binder edge and proper sewing, I can see where it might be prone to edge peel with only glue, though.

I'm surprised you textile pants don't have anything that prevents that. HD makes a Circulator Seat Pad that might help. Check on line to see if you find the material that should have been sown on them & have a tailor fix them.
