Default Do foot boards make much of a difference?

Hi all,

Still working on basic mods for comfort on my 2014 Forty Eight. Waiting on a new seat which I'm hopeful will make riding much more enjoyable. Today I rode about 120 miles and experimented a bit with foot position. I have the stock forward control pegs and will wait to install new DG seat before making any decisions but for those who run floor boards vs pegs, do they truly make a noticeable difference in comfort? If so how?

Thanks for all opinions!

I like foot boards because I can move my foot around. I have highway pegs, but rarely use them. You can move your feet around on pegs, but you have more positions/angles on foot boards.

Under 50 miles or so, it doesn't really make a difference.

Are your floorboards forward or mid (or are they always up front and this is a stupid question?)

They are stock except moved 1" out and 1" up because I'm tall. I have an extended shifter and brake pedal too. This makes it pretty close to forward, but not quite. You can see them on my signature pic. This is on a touring model, I'm not sure how well foot boards will work on a sporty with forward controls. You might want to check into a heel rest.

Thanks for the thought! Ill take a look at that (those don't seem to be a fit for a xl1200x) but could still be the right direction.

Using heel rests with your forward control pegs will give you just as much, or more, flexibility in foot positions, but will keep the sportier look on your Sportster, plus be less expensive.

You can use any kind of shift peg on the heel rests to match up with whatever pegs your running....and they're available in chrome or black.

Here are pics of a couple different set-ups-

Thanks DK, you guys are right, I like that look far more than floorboards. Do they make much of a difference in riding comfort?

I have Kuryakyn mini floorboards on my custom (5" long). Hard to describe why they are more comfortable, besides the fact that you can move your feet around. But I rode down to Daytona with stock pegs and rode home with the floorboards and the comfort level was obvious to me. I think they suit my bike well style wise.

These work well for me with forwards. Makes the long rides much more comfortable.
