Default Garage Door Opener Finally Installed

Just got my XL1200 back from the dealer tonight with the new garage door opener installed (HD# 91558-01A). Switchto high beam and back to low beam and garage door opens. If your thinking about getting one,I would definately recommend it. It's a little pricey but worth every penny or should I say dollar. I wouldnever have thought of it if it wasn't for this forum. Thanks to all.

Oh yeah...the garage door opener linked to the head light is one of my MOST favorite accessories!!! Expecially when you ride in and it's freekin 25 degrees outside!! Not all that pricy, if you install it yourself, and it's a fairly simple install. My Mom, gave mine to my for Christmas, I installed it that night. Aren't Mom's GRAND!!!!

I've found this works well for me, but only works if you have a windshield to block the wind. The remote never moves even at highway speeds. I clip it onto the left mirror stem. It's a regular visor mounted remote. I crimped the visor clip down & lined the inside of the clip with electrical tape. I slip it off and put it in my pocket when I park where someone might ****** it. I believe in the KIS principal. (keep it simple). It doesn't bang and flop around like a fob on your key ring and is much easier to reach.

I would have never thought that you could put a garage door opener on a bike. Quite an awesome idea, and it seems kind of like somethink from the movies....Flash the lights and the doors open.

bospider01, the bags are willie & max and the handlebar is the standard one that came with the bike. I have no idea what the part# or the name of the handlebar is. Thanks for the compliment on the bike. As for the hand held visor openers, I've used them before and have almost put the bike down twice while trying to fumble around with one hand steering the bike and the other trying to push the button to open the garage door. After the second near fall, and reading about the headlight option here on this forum, I decided to try it. It's not for everyoneand I was a little apprehensive aboutgetting one, but I'm gladI did.

How does the reciever hook up to your opener?

I'm considering getting this setup, but am unsure about the reciever hookups.
