1996 fuel tank options?

Owning a 1990 Glide I occasionally joke that it is our duty, as owners of older Harleys, to prove that new stuff can be made to fit! I have a recent 6 gallon Touring tank on it now, which was a bit of a challenge to do. I simply bought a cheap tank (I reckon it was a showroom damaged new one) off Ebay. Once I proved it would go on I got it painted and my painter was able to knock out the dent, which is invisible.
So one option is to simply keep your eyes peeled for a cheap tank (I paid a little over 100 dollars) and see what you can do. On the other hand you may get lucky and find that someone has already done it. There is a thread on the subject, which IIRC requires a blank EFI plate underneath (mine is on top) plus a Pingel or similar gas tap.

There's a thread about this here in the Sporty section, but I can't find it at present. The EFI plate is apparently expensive and not available as a part without the other stuff. There is apparently an aftermarket blank plate available, although I would think anyone handy with basic tools would be able to make one from scratch. Have a root around.
