Default Timken part# for HD wheel bearing part# 9247

Does anyone know the Timken part number for the rear wheel bearings for 2005 Sportster? The wheel bearing part number from HD is 9247.

No I don't, but if you read the numbers engraved on it and talk to local a bearing supplier they can supply the correct replacement. Those numbers are common to all bearing companies.

I didn't have any luck at our local bearing supply, even after I took the old bearing in for measurements. The guy looked in some books and got on the phone, came back and said it was exclusive to HD. The cost from HD was pretty much in line with the local supplier's price on bearings of similar size, so I didn't feel so bad about it. Other than the 50 mile trip to the dealer.

good to know but that is no surprise, really on something like that you want to make sure you have the exact right part anyway.

I'm replacing front & Rear bearings on a 2005 Ultra Classic
Here's what I found...

HD Part# 9247: 1" (25.4mm) Bore x 21mm Thickness x 52mm Outer Diameter
(w/ ABS Brakes: 1" (25.4mm) Bore x 15mm Thickness x 52mm Outer Diameter) to compensate for ABS Sensors
Radial Ball Bearing | Double Sealed

Enduro Bearings offer a compatible bearing (DH559486) but I've read mostly bad reviews about their products, so BUYER BEWARE!
https://www.hendersonbearings.co.uk/...bore-9247.html
Notice in the description: "In the very unlikely event that we should not have available free stock in the listed brand, then a quality brand will be supplied." (define quality)

Motion Industries offer a compatible bearing (Mi Item #: 00052605) but looks like it's only available for ABS model bikes. (15mm wide vs. 21mm wide)
https://www.motionindustries.com/pro...p?sku=00052605

Grainger offers a compatible bearing (44Z821) but looks like it's only available for ABS model bikes also. (15mm wide vs. 21mm wide)
https://www.grainger.com/product/TIM...Bearing-44Z821

It's on Amazon as well, but again, it ooks like it's only available for ABS model bikes also. (15mm wide vs. 21mm wide)
Amazon Amazon

No ABS here, so HD#9247 (1" Bore x 21mm Thickness x 52mm Outer Diameter) still the best bet unless you have ABS...
