Default Exhaust flange c clip,thingie

Bout to change pipes on my 91. 60ish miles from a dealer and I can't get there today if I break one of the c clip looking thingies while switching them out to new pipes. They look simple, but anyone have any suggestions on how to keep from breaking one when I remove it from old pipe and the install on new one?

I am sure someone has had a oh hell moment with these things. I can see one flying across the room.

They are pretty tough, I've had mine on and off 3 or 4 times switching exhausts.

You'll be fine - I've never had problems with them over the decades - how are you at catching......

Just cup your hand over them, or put a rag on the pipe when you pop them off to deaden the flight path...
