Hi folks - I'm new here. Regards to all from the UK. I am a Sporster 1200C rider since September 2004. I don't regret buying my bike for a minute but, looking through the parts catalogue, .....wow what prices! In the UK a screen, for example, would cost £250 ($600 ?). Now, this to me seems outrageous. Are these prices comparable across the world? Do other UK HD owners feel that these prices are unreasonable? Are there any other outlets where cheaper parts can be obtained that will substitute for genuine HD parts? Let me know please.

All HD parts are expensive. Though having to pay that much for a windscreen is insane. Look into parts that aren't genuine HD.

If you want to buy HD parts at a good discount, try Hale's HD in Mansfield, OH. I don't have their 800 number, but they give a 20% discount, and have a really good rep for phone order sales.

 

There has got to be an aftermarket dealer in your area, or at least in the UK. I would do a Google search, or get to the next big bike show near you...I know shipping parts from the states into Canada is expensive with duties etc, and I can't imagine it would be any different for you folks. If it isn't an issue for you try www.sorgys.com

Ouch! $600 for a shield? It might be cheaper for you to buy a ticket to the States get all the parts you want and take 'em back with you. Plus you could rent a bike and see the beautiful scenes we got here.

 

Thanks to all for the replies. I got my currency conversion a bit wrong - its more like 480 USD. Still a lot of money though. I'll look into those links, (Pococj and Steeltown, thanks) and investigate worldwide shipping. (It's a bit of a bummer if I order the wrong part number though!!)
As for the suggestion of cutting out the middle man and coming to the States, what a good idea - I may just do that. Once I have recovered from buying the bike that is. (£7500 new or 14,100 USD in the UK if you are interested. How does this compare with prices in the US out of interest?)
Anyone in the UK have any good links for cheaper after sales HD parts?

 

grahampr, I looked up the msrp for your bike here in the U.S. and it's $9495 for black,$9715 for pearl and $9915 for two tone,there are alot of dealer's that will sell for msrp here or pretty close, hope this answer's your question.

 

That's a big difference. That's a lot of money gone into exporting outside the US (someone somewhere is getting rich). Needless to say it isn't me!

 

A new 1200C here in No. Utah is about 10700.00 anyway,enjoy your scoot!maybe send us some stories in the road trips section,overseas stuff is allways interesting.(include a pic or two)...I allways say that but i've got one lousy,grainey picture in this forum somewheres.ride on![sm=shades.gif]

 

grahampr, I get the majority of parts from the US, mainly through Ebay, then even if I order the wrong part I just re-sell on Ebay, My biggest gaff was ordering an exhaust system for my Buell only to find that the US version was half an inch in diameter wider at the headers... OOPS, I still sold it on without a loss though.
