Have you been hanging around with Baka1969? He waits three days after having a beer to ride.

When I was stationed in San Diego I didn't own a car yet had a Sporty. When I started riding street bikes in the 90s, I rode as often as I could.

If Sportsters or Harley-Davidsons didn't exist I'd be riding some motorcycle. Yet I have chosen Sportsters.

How many would rather drive a car than ride a Sportster (or any other bike [brand or model] for that matter)?
I'm irresolute on that issue. You convinced me earlier with the mpg and carbon footprint comments that the spurtster is the Prius of motorcycles. It's only a matter of time before HD comes out with a spurtster with EV mode. Would you still choose to drive that over a car?

Lots of Man-Ginas posting about who's bike is better.

Here's my philosophy...if you smile when you ride it, than you have the right bike

....and wife!

I need something with an internal combustion chamber, burns dino juice and has two wheels.

Like I said, it's better to be on any motorcycle than driving a car.

First, Sportsters are beginner Harleys. They are smaller, lighter, and more easily controlled compared to the rest of the production line. Thats why people start there.

Second, why are any of you concerned about going the fastest and racing to prove how great your sporty is? If you want speed, get a crotch rocket. Harleys are for those that enjoy the ride. You get to the destination when you get there.

Third, I started with a Fatboy Lo and moved to a Street Glide. Couldnt be happier. My gf used to say they were geezer bikes, but she shut up as soon as she got on the back. The ride is great, the power is plenty, and its as nimble and fun to ride as anything I would ever need.

Enjoy your bike, whatever the size or reason. Ride for the joy of riding.

One final word: If Rog wins he will get his Starbucks card. If I win, I do not want or expect anything. I'm sure I'll hear 20 different excuses that the poll was rigged, not properly done or not held in a neutral location, which it was.
