No, not missing anything. I am running the 12 cell on my sporty for the last 2 years...first when it was an 883 and then for the last 9 months with the NRHS 1250 upgrade.
The 12 cell is rated for only up to 1100 cc's, but it has been doing fine.
I like it because it takes less space, and has the best warranty in the battery business (3 years) and no need for a battery tender.
I thought when I went to the 1250 I would have to upgrade to the 16 cell, but that has not been the case.

I've been searching for a smaller battery for my HD48 for a couple months. If I purchase the battery you listed above (for 1100 cc's), will this void the warranty of the battery since the 48 exceeds the 1100 cc recommendation?
Or should I purchase the next size up for 1600 cc's, with 480 CAs (seems a bit excessive for a 1200 )?
Thanks!

1. Good battery cables and connections
2. Does not have cold starts below 50*
Should have no problems with the smaller battery.
The reason the larger are recommended for above 1100cc is because so many folks believe they have good battery cables and connections, when in fact they are a bit compromised, the larger battery compensates for that.
The other is, the smaller battery will turn the engine over in cold weather, but it could be a bit sluggish. The larger battery will spin the starter quickly, even in cold weather.
Using the smaller battery will NOT void the warranty, nor damage it, nor reduce its useful life.
