Never have tried those however I've tried several and for the the most durable and best bang for the buck are the jeans from Cycle Gear, Bilt jeans. Lots of Kevlar and CE knee protection which is removable if desired.

I just wear regular jeans and a half helmet. People spend to much time over thinking life. I wear a half helmet because its what I prefer. I don't ride to be safe although I try to ride safely. People fail to realize that no matter what you do today doesn't guarantee you tomorrow. You can live the prefect lifestyle and die in your sleep.

Today I just wore jeans, sneakers and no helmet. I do that for most of my local daily rides. Which is sort of ironic because I live in an urban area and the traffic can be crazy. However, when I travel, I wear kevlar jeans, boots, a protective jacket and a modular helmet. Go figure.
