Im about to do some work on my shovelhead, but I assume the process is the same. Im gonna take off the cylinder heads and maybe the entire engine. But in the service manual, it says to crank the motor until the cylinders are closed. How do you do that when the batter is disconnected?

 

Hand turn the rear tire while in gear.

...Assuming rear tire if off the ground or on a lift or some soft.
