Default throttle cable problem

ok so I went to replace one of my throttle cables withe a JP cycle one. the only problem is when I go to attach the cable to the throttle tube Im just a hair short to get both cables on. I can get one on but not the other. The new cable is plenty long and has slack as it snakes from the crb through the chassis to the throttle tube but the part that sticks above the insulation is aparently too short!
both cables are adjusted as far in as possible.
what can i do?
