Hand me a smoke brother! Oh BTW. My brother stopped nagging me about quitting smoking. He said it's better to die at 74 then crapping on myself at 84 in a nursing home.

I just bought my 1200R and it had some pretty loud SE pipes. I loved the sound, but way too loud. I got a headache / neck tension twice riding for longer distances 1 hr +. So I put the stock pipes on.

I also have the A/C and rejet. But I put the stock pipes on and I'm much happier, although I can't hear the bike running much at about 45+ mph which was a little scary the first time.

My pop told me that anybody that didn't have loud pipes on a sportster has half a brain. But, I like the sound stock just fine and I'm sure my neighbors aprreciate it as well.

I am assuming that installing the V&H pipes, Hi-Flo air cleaner and a V&H FuelPak system on an 07 Sportster will resolve the lean running that it comes from the factory with? This weekend makes 5 weeks I'll have had mine, it goes in tomorrow for the 1000 mile service. I plan on keeping it stock until this winter, then either taking it in and having the stage 1 done at the dealership, or ordering everything and doing it myself (V&H equipment).

Stock bikes sound/run like **** compared to the Stage1/AC/HD PP SE SlipOns configuration. My bike has quite a bit more noticeable power, it sounds great, and it runs much better. Obviously Harley's engineers made a specific map for stock ECM, and tuned the bike to be fine out the door as an EPA approved setup. The Stage1 map will put the ECM back the way the bike was originally designed to run, and once you upgrade you'll finally have a real Harley. Whenever you hear about a sportster being a chicks bike, they are referring to those Sportsters that still conform to the EPA. lol

My 05 1200 C is running pure stock. I have no plans on changing anything.

I had plans for pipes and such before I got mine. Now that I have ridden it quite a bit I have decided it's just fine the way it is. It starts great, hastremendous power, sounds good with the stock pipes and looks great, I don't want to change anything. I may change my mind in the future but for now it does everything it was suposed to do, in factbeyond my expectations.

I did my 1200 but my wife will not let me touch her 883. Her bike runs without any issues in the stock configuration. No farts, no hesitation. She does't want me to screw her bike up. She knows me well![sm=drooldude.gif]

I have a 2002 883, I drilled extra holes in the stock A/C backing plate, installed a K&N replacement air cleaner, knocked out the baffles in the stock mufflers and rejetted the carb. (45 & 170).
What a difference, Sounds great, runs great. 58 MPG
My neighbor has a 2005 1200C and he can't believe the sound it has, and the way it runs. No problem staying right with him on the road.

I ran mine stock for 3 years. Then I found this forum and saw alot of people had done the Stage 1 upgrade. I didn't even know that you could do this.So I did it and what a difference.Wish I would have done it when I bought it.
