Its not just the angle of the bars but also the mirrors. Loosen the mirror stem and rotate the stem out. Tighten then readjust the mirror so you can see. Befor I installed my tank, I adjusted the mirrors for max clearance. I have about 1/2 " clearance on the left at full lock.

To everyone who has swapped tanks:
Did you buy your tank new/raw steel or did you shop around on eBay or something for a used one? I'm thinking of putting a nightster tank on mine but don't want to spend crazy amounts of $ for something I don't necessarily need.

Tank is new from HD...3.3 Gal for a nightster. I ordered it primed and sent it out for paint. Similar color to Sedona Orange, it is HOK Kandy Tangarine. Tank was painted with smoke airbrushed on the sides and "Harley Davidson" logo...came out great...ill post pics when its all done..
