Default seafoam in the oil

Hi all , i am doing an oil change very soon and i thought i read somewhere you can run some seafoam in the oil to clean things up a bit before the oil change. Is this true is it ok to run some SF thru the oil system.??

Just my 2cents worth but I wouldn't . I'd be afraid of it causing a gasket problem or something. I think it has some of the same solvents used in paint thinner in it that may not play well with gaskets when hot. Some folks swear by it for fuel problems but that's a different temperature range.

Bro, oil is there to lubricate your engine! Adding solvents, etc will degrade your oil and result in wear and tear.

I do it in my older vehicles, works great. No need to do it in a newer vehicle and NEVER do it on a sportster because theres always some oil left in the engine.

+1 - THIS
And if you're running a quality oil to begin with, there's no sludge in the motor that needs cleaning out anyway.

Take apart any high mileage car or motorcycle engine that has been properly cared for, I bet you will be amazed at how clean they are inside.

You don`t need to add anything to the oil, no matter how old the vehicle is.

Leave it to the chemists and engineers at the oil company to blend the oil for you, they know what they are doing.

Hmmm, opinions will differ from each member, however, use your best judgement. You can always contact the company itself and inquire directly w them. I've used it on my gas tank, not only on my bikes but on my cars as well. Never used it to clean the engine...

Then I can guarantee there's nothing in your motor that needs cleaning.
When I tore my motor down (split the cases) this past summer to do the 1250 build at 92,000 miles, everything inside was spotless.

Just for grins I checked the Sea Foam web site. The manufacturer, as far as I can see, recommends the product only for fuel treatment, not for lubricants.
