Default Is this an alignment issue?

Hey all! First off what a great forum. I am new to the HD world, just bought my first one, an Iron 883, in April this year. Needless to say I love it. I have noticed some wear on the outside sprocket and am concerned that something may be wrong. I live quite a ways from the dealership so I didn't want to ride it and damage something further. Maybe you guys can shed some light on the issue. Is this a alignment problem or just the regular wear as the bike breaks in. I only have 250 miles on it. Thanks for any help.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. That part of your bike isn't subject to 'wear' as you put it, as it shouldn't be touching anything! The only things that can touch the outside of the rear pulley is the chainguard (yes I know - belt guard!) or the swingarm, but there should be plenty of clearance with them.

By all means check for clearance, otherwise arrange a visit to your dealer, to check what is going on. You have a warranty to cover anything that needs to be put right.

Thanks. I have looked and cant see any wear on the chain guard or the swing arm. No paint missing etc. No noise while moving etc. I'll get to the dealership.
