Default Stage 1 done

Stage 1 is done

VH short shots
SE air cleaner
48 pilot stock main jet

I was going to put a 45 pilot and 180 main jet but someone I work with has a 883 sportster and the dealer he bought it from put a 48 pilot jet and left the main alone when he had them do his stage 1. He says the bike runs great, but I did not belive they put a 48 pilot in it. So when I went to my stealer and got my AC and asked for a 45 pilot and 180 main jet he said put a 48 in it and leave the main alone. I installed the pipes a couple of weeks ago and the AC and jet one night after work this week but did not start it up because it was late. I started it today and tuned it, it seems to running real good need to put on some miles and do a plug check. The bike seems to pull harder than it did when stock and the short shots are louder than with the stock AC. I am glad I did it myself, anyone who is afraid of doing it yourself don't be it really not a hard job. The picture is from before I put on the AC.

You will probably be good. If you do highway crusing you may want to check your plugs as soon as you stop to see if you are running lean. Each bike is different but your better off running slighty rich vs lean. based on a number of reports here the 180 main is typically the best choice. Hey they are easy to change, try both.

My bike was running a little lean so I just got done drilling out the idle mixture screw. It was out 1 and a half turns so I made it 2.I was told to do this before getting into changing jets.It was pretty easy Im going to go test it out now.

I did Stage one with a #45 pilot. It left the line like crap until I put in a #48; now it pulls much better. What advantage is putting in a #180 (at what stage of throttle does the main kick in)?

The main affects the upper rpm range. Any where from 2500-3000 up.
