Do I really need to take the pipe off to put the passenger peg on?
Putting the passenger pegs on my Seventy Two last night, and I could not get a wrench in to tighten the lower bolt on the right side because the pipe is in the way. I have a wobbly extension, and it gets in enough to make a few turns, but not enough to torque it properly. I put loc-tite on the bolt and torqued and loc-tited the upper bolt, but anyone got suggestions to make sure that lower ****er is on there right without having to take the rear pipe off?

Swing by the tool store and pick one up. Someone in Milwaukee needs a dick punch for that design flaw.

haha guess theres no more guy with a +1 sign.. but yup what he said..exactly that just enough of a angle to get in there..i used a micro fiber cloth inbetween the pipe and the socket to just be that extra careful..

I'm going through this exact same thing with my 2007 XL1200L. Right side lower bolt hole is immediately behind the pipe. There's no room at all to turn the wrench. I'll go get the ball head tomorrow and see if that works but I might just end up having to loosen the pipe.
What a big pain in the butt just to put on the passenger peg. And why didn't it come with passenger pegs in the first place. Bastards. LOL
