Pipes and Air, now what tuner?

The premise that a richer (say 12.5:1) afr will produce an unsafe voltage for the o2 sensor is not valid.
Remember, when the bikes are in open loop, from the factory, they are running as rich as a 12.5:1 AFR and not ruining/hurting/frying the sensors. All the o2 sensors are doing is measuring the oxygen content flowing past them.
o2's can get carbon build up that can block them from a good reading, but that would have to be richer than 12.5:1, which is a normal AFR on a stock tune.
The most the XiED product line does is push the closed loop AFR to 13.8:1, and most of them are in the 14.0:1 range.
Two other things that can ruin an o2 sensor-
Leaded fuel
or
Running hot enough for long enough will burn them up.

Basically unable to provide feedback and are virtually off at those points which of.course cause.no harm. Now that confirmed 14.0afr closed loop the ied simply is running the max switching voltage the 02 can handle. That's what I wanted to know. Thanks for clarifying.

Kevin I think we misunderstood one another. I thought it was said that the ied would run 12.8-13.0 afr closed loop which was why I said it wasn't safely possible. Of course when map is at wot or other points that require map to run open loop the 02 sensors are

The richest an XiED product will run in closed loop is 13.8, most are right at 14.0
In open loop, HD has the afr at 13.85:1 to 12.5:1. Then when you put free flow a/c and/or exhaust, it will lean it out some. Where the XiED products come into play is that the adjustments the ECM does in closed loop will also change the LTFT tables to get the open loop back close to the stock 13.85:1 to 12.5:1.

I have one question on this topic. I'm picking up a 2012 72 next week and wanting to do pipes and ac like everyone. My buddy did just this on his 2014 Lowrider 2 weeks ago along with a Superchips Vigilante tuner. Well after tuner installed he had a check engine light on, found out due to the lack of convertor his bike now has. Superchips told him the only fix for the check engine light with their tuner was to install a convertor back on it. My question is, will my 2012 72 have a convertor and if so can/will a XiED/ViED compensate for that, or a PCV? My buddy ended up putting a Thundermax on his to resolve the issue, I have no desire to spend thundermax money just to have a stage 1 bike.
