Default can I paint my fork tubes

If you check out my bike its pretty blacked out and chromed. Im pretty much done with the customization process other than wishing I could afford some rims that are not spokes and just powder coat them black.

I think there is too much chrome on my front end. I was thinking of leaving my triple trees chrome and possibly painting the tubes black? has anyone ever done this?

I see sportsters that come with stock front ends that are already black. I was wondering what I would need to do to get the same look without buying new tubes.

The tubes (or sliders) you should not paint.
If you mean the fork lowers....sure.
Degrease, scuff, prime and paint.

you can't paint them as the friction and the oil will soon destroy the paint. Powdercoating them wont work as when you get a chip in the powder it will leak

The only thing you can do is to get them re chromed in a black colour

For example

I have a question for you
How do you do the thumb nail image thing in your post?

I was at a Florida Harley Dealer during Bike Week and saw a painter there painting the lower fork sliders of trade ins grey.He said it covers the dings from stones. So apparently it is done alot.Cheaper than $499 for new black ones.

I think he is talking about the inner tubes not the outers
