Going back to shorter bars

I went to taller bars and bought cables good enough for bars with 12" rise. Now i want to go back to shorter bars (8") but without having to switch all the cables back to shorter cables. Is this doable?

It'll just look neater. I had long cables tied down with cable ties at some stage. You don't need expensive diamond braided things.
