anybody ever install a chrome sprocket cover?
Hey guys just got my chrome sprocket cover in yesterday for the rear wheel. I just bought the trim for it, not replacing the whole thing. Anybody ever put one of these bad boys on before? Looks like a few things are in the way. Do I have to jack it up ?

I put one on my Softail, and about to put one on my wife's Sporty. It conformes perfectly to the sprocket and you can't really tell it's a cover unless you look at it real close near outer edge by the belt.
BTW, if you can figure out how to take the rear wheel off without jacking it up, you won't need a lift.

it looks awesome. like dave said, the cover itself is an exact replica of the actual sprocket...the only way you know that it is a cover is the little bit you see outside the belt.
I'm just not sure if this is my cup of tea to tackle. I've done quite a bit of my own on my bike so i didn't have to pay somebody to do it and everything has gone pretty good so far i just dont like the idea of messin with the swingarm and rear tire. i'm almost thinking of waiting to do it because i planned on gettinga chrome swingarm too, kill 2 birds with one stone ya know?

It's not really that big of a deal to replace, just have to make sure you get the wheel on straight. I typically do my own wrenching, but I have my wife's bike in for the recall so I am having them do this as well since it is only a little over 1/2 hour labor. Seems pretty reasonable to me, because that type of a project takes me a whole afternoon.

haha yeah sometimes savin time is worth the money, especially if its something little like this in which you said they'll do it in 20 minutes, charge you 1/2 hour (probably 35-40 bucks) and out the door you go. It's just one of those things though that i'd rather leave it to the experts.
sometimes i do stuff to my bike and after all is said and done and i'm out riding i always worry about this and that and did i tighten that bolt or --->why do i have extra hardware layin around now (haha just kiddin)
