Default Oil leakage or normal?

Behind my rear cylinder on top of the primary is a tube that runs up and to the left along the top of the primary. There is a bit of oil that looks to have ran out of this tube and maybe leaked or just ran down the tube at the base where it is connected to the primary. I recently drained and replaced some dirty *** primary fluid and put 32 ounces as required by the manual, so I wouldn't think over fill but that looks as if that's the tubes purpose. I dont know what this is or why I have oil like this. I hope this is not another surprise as the previous owner has left me with enough as is.

It may look like it is from that tube, but the stator wire comes out just infront of that tube and it is common for primary fluid to weep from there. More than likely this is where it is from.

Ok as long as it isn't a problem that needs attention. Thank you

I had the same problem with the 01 sporty. Over time the rubber grommet on the stator wires gets hard and dosen't seal tight. Mine had a little oil mist, but the worst was the way bike leaned over, if washing bike or it got left in the rain water would collect at the grommet and leak in the primary and I would have milky oil.

Its a time consuming fix without replacing the stator. Pull the primary cover, clutch, primary chain, and rotor, pop the plug and wires out, clean hole and plug of all oil, use a oil resistance silicone, push plug back in hole and let it cure over night. Been 6000 miles and no more problems.

If you wash bike often or store bike outside in elements I would keep a check on it for moisture in your primary. Just pull the derby cover and look for moisture and milky oil on inside of derby cover, that's the way I realized I had a problem.
