This may be a n00b question, but is the rear suspension on the Nightster adjustable? Several people have complained about the ride being a bit rough.

You know I do not know that either... Some have told me yes, and some no... I will ask the dealership this week.

Yes the rear shocks are adjustable, but they come from the factory with the step adjusters on the second to softest setting and they are still rather "firm". I don't think it is that bad, but some others on this forum don't seem to like it. I think the real problem lies in the seat. Once I modified my seat it feels much better, even over the hard bumps.

I bought the sundowner bucket seat so the wife could ride on the back, but I don't think she will like it much and I will put the stock seat back on. Does any one know if the rear fender needs to be drilled to put on the sundowner or does it fit stock?

I'm getting use to the stock seat, I may try modifying mine also. I think your right I would start with the seat first.

First post here,
I have the olive/black NightRat. Ya I like the NightRat name.
Anyhow I love mine, great looking bike, I have removed all the reflectors
painted theexhast shieldshigh temp satin black including the mufflers,
(Wow what a difference that made) I took those little pegs off that stick down
off the foot pegs, rotated the handlebars back and movedthe levers down, way better.
I get so many positive comments on that bike, I guess great minds think alike,
I would like to learn a little more about mapping the fuel system, I bought some V&H slip ons
and painted them black also, but the V&H fuelpak wont fit on the nightster because of the
low seat, so harley tells me $625 for mapping and dyno, but there on back order until june.
That seems a little steep.
I can't waitto put those pipes on, they look so much better than stock.
I sure love this bike,
Ride on!

I've read that slip-on's alone do not require re-map. [sm=confused06.gif] Anyone know different?

That's what I've heard, no re-map until you mess with the air intake. I have Ruch slip-ons, didn't do anything to it.

Did you do the painting yourself or did you get it done? Also, is there a reason you went this route instead of powder coating?
