Default 180 tire

I got iron 883
im looking to replace the rear tire with a avon 180/70 16 my question is can i keep the stock wheel or i need to buy a new wheel? if so what size wheel will be the proper one? thanks

What mods are you considering for rear swingarm and drive belt to accommodate a tire this wide?

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF.

Tzrider has an excellent thread on fitting a 180, so read this first. It should answer most of your questions. You will need a new wheel, or wider rim if you have wire wheels.

Having the rear hub relaced with a wider rim seems like the simplest solution to me.

I did watch this video yesterday, thanks for posting...
I looks like this guy only replace the rear wheel, the sprocket and did some minor customization in the frame, I even ask him if this was all he did and he confirmed. Basically I was trying to find out if I can re-used my stock rear wheel with a 180 tire, I did look on the Avon web site and they do make a 180/70 16 tire but Im not sure if will fit my stock rear wheel, I guess not...
I had a Deuce before my Iron which I did the 240 rear tire and it was a bitch, so I dont want to go too big on the Iron this time

Well since this guy replaced his, im guessing that you might need to get a new wheel, i wouldn't think you HAD to but I'm not sure...just check with harley maybe...i'm going to get my carb rejetted sometime this week by some guys down the road and ill see what they say for you, those dudes are really harley smart
