'87 Sportster Anniversary Edition - Just Purchased
Cool find … so I snagged it. Runs great, but needs some TLC.
1987 Sportster 1100 Anniversary Edition #178 of 650 produced.
She is all stock except for exhaust and a few miscellaneous pieces.
The rear fender is rusted under the seat. If anyone has a matching rear fender (Black & Orange) to sell please let me know. Thx

With only 650 produced you're going to be lucky to find a matching fender! If the rust is bad you could simply buy a decent replacement and repaint it to match. Harley built less than 50k bikes per year around that time, so the stock of secondhand bikes, to get spares from, is far fewer than more recent years.

Not sure what I’m going to do with this bike. May simply clean her up, locate / install the stock pieces and re-sell to someone that wants a nice restoration project, as the mileage is only 21K
Concerning the rear fender … agreed, locating an original will be a challenge considering the limited # made. Best play may be finding a black one in good condition and adding the orange and pinstripes. Certainly rideable the way it is, but noticeable if you want to run with a solo seat.

I was in San Francisco on vacation when that bike came out. I remember seeing it brand new at Dudley Perkins HD. I was riding a 79 XLH at the time and wanted that bike pretty bad. Never happened but good memory anyway. Rode the 79 till I bought a new 1200 in 1991, which is still in my stable.
