First, who is the tire manufacturer and how old is the tire? Probably just need a new and more grippy tire. I know my Avon Venom sticks and launches me extremely well. I think the largest you can go is the 140 on the rear without using the spacers.

what with a 3/8 spacer between pulley and hub , they are like 15 on ebay . spead the a arm with car jack and offset the pulley enough for the 150/80 to clear the belt drive . do i need any other washers or spacers and how does the tire work on the stock 883 rim ? the height size should almost be the same between the two tires

If I remember correctly, the 2004 and up can accomodate the 150 with some adjustments, but the pre-2003's can only fit the 140. I have no idea what washers and spacers you'll need. I do know that you'll need to watch the wires tucked up under the fender running that 150 though due to the even larger width of the 150. The height of the tire isn't too big of a concern unless you've really lowered the bike like mine with 10" shocks. Even with the 140, I had about a 1/4" clearance between the tire & fender/wiring on the pulley side and a little less than 1/2" clearance on the brake side due to the tire being offset under the fender, (yes, it's offset on all sporties), which my Indy pointed out the first time I threw on a 140.

You'll need to offset the drive (tranny) sprocket an equal amount to keep them lined up.

The 2004 and later came stock with a 150.
