Default 2004 Roadster speedo problem

I am having a problem with an intermittent speedo and have had it to Harley as well as putt a few hours myself into trying to solve the problem.
the questions I have are 1. Has anyone heard of braided steel plug wires causing this type of issue. 2. any other suggestions? At this point I have switched out and tested ( with known good components) the speedo , ignition module and checked voltages.
I have ordered new plug wires already as I do not like the look of the braided ss covered ones . Any thoughts ?

What do you mean by intermittent? The reason I ask is sometimes mine shows way slow until I turn the key off and back on, then its ok for a while. It seems to be ok much longer if I prize around on the multiplug at the speedo with a wooden dowel rod. I am thinking about cutting the speedo wire loose from the multiplug and making a new connection but am not sure if that is the way to go.

It would help if you told us what about the speedo is broken. Does it stop measuring speed or does it go dead, as in no power?

Out of all the parts listed that have been replaced, I don't see the most obvious part related to speedo issues, which would be the VSS.

Default VSS was also tested and tested good

By intermittent I mean the speedo will work fine for a few miles and then drop off to zero and for no obvious reason start working again. Bumps in the road or temperature do not seem to play a part. The back light stays on and the Tack works fine no problems ( This is a Roadster model ).
