Default rocker box gasket

Hey guys... '06 1200 rocker box gasket. Any of you guys know much about the replacement? Not sure why it's leaking. The bike has no miles, but it sat the last few years. I just pulled the cover off, loosened the bolts and retorqued them, but I'm sure I'll have to replace it....

Replacement is straightforward.
-Remove rocker box, remove gasket.
-Replace gasket, fit the rocker box in place and torque to spec.

It is not that hard to do, check out this thread: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...i-version.html

I highly recommend getting a HD factory service manual. Rocker box gasket leaks are very common on these motors.

You can buy a PDF (adobe reader) version of the 2006 Service Manual as a download from Motorcycle Manual Downloads for $19. I've used them for purchases before and paid with Paypal. Some of the manuals are cheap enough that I bought them just to build up a digital library.

Those are not legal copies and it's against forum rules to link those. Harley has never released digital versions of the service manuals.

It's certainly feasible but surprising that the manuals are being sold illegally. The sites selling them are certainly not covert "hey buddy ... want to buy a manual cheap" operations. As proprietary as HD is, I'm amazed that they wouldn't squash any illegal sales of HD items as quickly as they could.

I had the same problem with my rocker box covers. They started leaking on my 2007 when I switched to Amsoil. But, I kept putting it off since it was such a minor leak, and now it has stopped by itself and no longer leaks at all.

jlasoftail, You remove the tank, move the wiring harness, unbolt the cover (the top part), slide cover out, pull the gasket, reverse process to install.
use new gaskets for all screws too!

that's it, simple.
