My bucket hangs nicely over one of the mirrors. I then use a small $5 Master padlock thru the d rings and around the mirror stem. It stops the casual thief, but it they want it bad enough they can have it. Better than having them use a set of bolt cutters around the paint and f***ing up the bike. It keeps the top side of the bucket up and the inside dry if it rains.

If you put "Helmet Lock" into Google you'll get a lot of ideas. Try this...
http://www.google.com/search?q=Helme...f8&oe=utf8

But actually I'm thinking of doing what cHarley suggests.

With all the minor league criminals out on the streets these days it's hard to secure anything.

Guess you wouldn't even need to carry around a bolt cutter, as the trusty 110 Buck knife many wear on their belts would cut through the helmet strap(s) like butter. [8D]

Well, I don't worry about people taking it while it is parked but I cannot ride it home without a helmet. I just want to stop casual thief, that's all. Carrying a 3/4 helmet on the street could be a pain in the azz. Again, if they want to steal your bike, no matter what you have, they still take it in no time.

I always wear a bucket, though none is required here in Florida. If I'm out of state I would file a police report and get a badge number. I'm sure it would get me a reprieve on the way home.
