Default lkooking for a new seat

I find the stock seat on my 04 1200R gets very uncomfortable quickly. I can go 45-55 miles or 45min - 1hr at a time before I have to get off for a while and "recover". Im about 5'10" and about 200lbs, Im not huge, but I could drop 20lbs. I find its mainly my *** bones and my lower back that hurt, the seats on the big bikes seems designed much better and have better support. What kind of seat would you recommend I look at? I like the look of the stock seat but will have to compromise so I can put some miles on this bike!

You probably want to look at the Mustang or Sundowner. Seldom does a day goes by here that the same question is not asked. Look back through the previous threads for many many many many answers and opinionsto the same question.

I have the same bike you do. I have the Sundowner....best money I ever spent. It is a touring bucket seat.It is great for the ridder and even better for a passenger.

I just put a Sundowner seat on my 06. Went for a ride on it today for the first time with the new seat. It was so much better. I had the same problem you have. I could only ride for a little while and had to rest with the stock seat. I could have rode all day with the new seat.

I had the same problem with the stock seat and my wife would not ride on the stock seat with me. Mustang seat solved all problems. Took trip to Vermont last fall and we only had to stop once for a 3 and a half hour trip.

Have any of you guys tried the "other" seats for comparison (Sundowner for Mustang owners and vice versa)? At $2-400 I would hate to get the wrong seat and given how many issues I have with the stock Im a bit sceptical that another seat could be a night and day difference.

Davidc, is that a vintage or a wide vintage you have on your bike? 1 or 2 piece? The width and shape of the Mustang vintage seems like it might be the most confortable?

Has anyone tried the Mustang Day Tripper seat? I really like the design of the seat, I think the lines would work well with my Roadsters lines but it doesnt look to thickly padded so Im not sure how it would be for multiple hours in the saddle at a time?

I'm about the same size as you and really like my Le Pera Daytona Sport LT Series seat. It's very comfortable, well made and looks good IMHO.

I is a 1 piece vintage wide. Being wide seems too really help with back fatigue. I am not sure how good it would look though with a peanut tank sporty. With the custom tank being wider the wide seat matches up good with it.
