riders with clip ons
#3
I have a sundowner that works great for long trips. Oops missed the Clipons, I have a Suzuki savage with Clipons that I'm making a custom brat style seat. I looked at something for my roadster and the best I found was the Roland Sands Cafe Seat or Biltwell Cafe, problem is that they only fit up to 2003 and I don't know the difference between the seat pans for my 05. I didn't want to waste $200-$300 on a seat that doesn't fit, and my wife wouldn't understand buying an 03 sporty for $4000 so I didn't waste money on the seat. Seems logical to me. My low tech solution is to watch CL for low priced 03 and earlier seat to have a model for the seat pan.

I tried a Harley Davidson pillow top seat, 229$ on my 2000 sport. It was comfy and has a nice platform for passenger but set me an inch or so higher, did not like so I took it back. Might have been ok if I had time to get used to it but then I could not have taken it back if I didn't like. They said this seat is not going to be available after the existing stock is sold.

I'm running the RSD Cafe seat and hands down it is the best seat I've had. I know even though it was designed and marketed as an RSD product it is made by Mustang. It's super comfortable and makes any ride better; the rear "cowl" makes for a nice small, but useable back rest when you want it to. The perforated leather lets it breathe very well to the point that if it happens to get wet while you're riding or while parked it dries in short order (my leather jacket from Icon takes longer to dry than my seat). Unlike many other seats I don't find that it presses into the inside and back of my thighs causing discomfort over longer rides. Overall I highly recommend it!
