I really like them, use them nearly every time I take the bike out. I lock my helmet to the bike (full face with bluetooth) and stuff my Bilt mesh jacket with liner in one of the bags. Every trip to the store, whether its hardware or milk and groceries, they get used.
You do have to make sure they are locked, when you overstuff them like I did on 4 day trip. I really overstuffed them and it was my fault. The latches did not fail, I had them so stuffed the sides bulged enough to make them false latch, and they popped open on me. NEVER had that happen when loaded properly.
I can unlock them like when I go thru a drive thru for my RXs and close and lock with one hand, without dismounting, since they open outward.
I had plans to add a trunk from same company (Viking) but I will either sell it off to get an Ultra next year, or use the Ultra when more space is needed, if I keep the sporty.
I fabb'd my own quick disconnect for them, and it is lockable, but Viking sells one much like the HD version. I am too cheap to spend $150 for them.

I bought those from a guy that makes em and sells em on ebay. Sorry, don't remember who, it was last winter. The fairing is a T Sport for a Dyna, I have handlebar mount hand guards that I just sent to the powder coater, will put them back on next week. I bought those lights @ Walmart 2 years ago, they are awesome, but I saw the ones at Harbor freight you refered to. They were 12 bucks cheaper at HF. I have the flood pattern as opposed to the spot light pattern.

Heh, no judgement from me, boomer. I like a variety of drinks, but I'm picky about quality. I do find it odd that I prefer 1800 Anejo to most other more expensive tequilas that I've tried so far. When I do drink harder alcohol, I drink it neat, and all of it is more about the flavor than getting drunk. But then, I didn't start drinking at all until well into my 20's. Never cared for trends or binge drinking. I tell you, though: a good pork taco with pepper sauce and an imperial stout is a magnificent flavor combo. Also a large part of why I'm not skinny. :P
And I'm hesitant to admit it here, but I'm not specifically a Harley devotee. I actually have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I'd have been perfectly happy with a Honda as long as I was able to finally get on two wheels. If I had the cash to buy new bikes, I'd be more inclined toward one of those new Rebels and/or an Indian. I've never gravitated to "what everyone else has". I still feel like an imposter walking into a Harley dealer, though less so after having had my wallet savaged for the tire service. I think people who ride without full gear are nuts, and most Harley riders here in PA don't bother with helmets or jackets at all. I don't have tattoos (though my wife is covered, and I do like them). Despite the long hair, beard, and gut, I hardly come close to the image of "badass biker" that one generally associates with the brand. So yeah, I would never disparage anyone for having ridden a Honda. If you get out there and ride, that's what matters, IMO.
On the flip side, I have certainly benefited from and been thankful for the Harley community, particularly here in this forum. The wealth of info and available mods and parts seems to eclipse what's available for anything else. Also, the reactions that I get from onlookers while on a Harley certainly does seem to be different from what I would expect while riding anything else. I feel a little awkward about it, but it is nice when random bystanders give you the thumbs up, or cars wave you through an intersection. Would anyone get that kind of reaction on a Honda? Probably not.

How long did all this take you?
What did I do to my carbed Evo Sportster today? Due to having very little free time and it being cold and windy here I started it up and let it idle. I know it's not good for it, but I just wanted to hear the very low rpm PO TO PO TO PO TO idle sound. It's supposed to get in the low sixties here on Sunday, hopefully I'll get some free time to actually ride it.

That's exactly where I put the switch. I picked up power from the LED license plate light. I put the international rear fender/license plate mount on the Roadster to get rid of the side mount. I also put a disconnect on the wiring harness I made for the lights in case the crash bar needs to be removed.
Have been searching ebay and must be using the wrong words. ANY idea what that switch housing is called?
