What did you do to Your Sportster Today?

Thanks that's a great explanation. BUT I have definitely seen a YouTube video where a rider pushes at least one of these same "Buttons " and it responds with an audible click as part of the start up procedure on an older Harley . I can only assume that he had built some kind of secret immobilizer switch into the bike and cunningly disguised it as a rocker shaft bolt . If only I could find the vid again. Anyway thanks for the reply .

No , it didn't actually act as a starter button . It was done deliberately and filmed in close up as part of the start up procedure prior to firing up .The camera zoomed in as it was pressed as if the builder of the bike was particularly proud of this feature . As I say , I know what I saw but I can only guess at the function.

Finally finished another semester upstate, came home, uncovered it, got knocked over by the cat until he was fed so quick distraction, checked the oil & tires, finally went out on a long ride. I barely got to ride it since getting it back in October, so glad to finally be back in the saddle.

Found an original 1983 chain guard and installed it. I had a chain guard on it that sort of fit, but the front mount was too short and the rear mount was too long. It was from some model Sportster, but probably an Evo. Then I rode it about 40 miles to a bike night show. A friend of mine took this pic of it.

what i read, the 118's are for use with the baffle, 158's for no baffle.......i've got both, but opted to start with these, i cant center it more than that, the threads just are not long enough, i haven't tested yet, been too busy at work, maybe DK can chime in on the effects of it off center
