What did you do to Your Sportster Today?

1. Installed Progressive 444 shocks. I went with 12" for just a bit more travel. I had to remove the hard side saddlebags to install and will run without them for a while until I'm comfortable with the settings on the 444s.
2. Rewired rear lighting. In the process of moving the tail lights back to their original location, I found half the insulation was stripped on both turn signal wires. Definitely found the cause of the DTC codes I've been throwing recently...
Now I just need to clean all the crud that had built up on the rear behind the saddlebags.

put new plugs (iridium) in it. then went for a 2 hours ride. Sundowner is starting to fail the wife, says she cant ride for more than about 30-45 minutes on it before numbness sets in.
got back and took exhaust off. Trying to re-wrap the baffles with stainless wool to remove a terrible tone the exhaust has right around 2500rpm - seems to penerate my helmet and after about 30 min my right ear is ringing. Steelwool is supposed to lower the tone a little bit.

I just received my tripper today, sans back rest. It'll take some time to break in, but I already like it a lot. I like the way it positions my body and it's way more low profile than crap stock seat.

I'll be interested in hearing what you think after it is broken in. I have that seat. My behind isn't a fan after an hour ride. Was thinking about having a local craftsperson build up the back of the seat with a gelpack or whatever is used in that case. Otherwise, it's a wicked cool looking seat. Seating position is good as well, mid controls.

hmm, hope the pipe repacking works...if not you might want to get some quieter ones soon , the ringing in your ears can become permanent and untreatable tinnitus and hearing loss if you are exposed to enough noise. Tinnitus is NOT fun to live with, most people still function OK with it but some develop serious mental problems from the non stop ringing. Anyway a word to the wise, etc...

Finished pulling the tins off, the gas tank was all that was left. I bought this bike last month, and hoping to have a lot of the work done by the end of this month.
Will be putting a fat bob 4.5 gal tank on it, and having all the tins painted. Hoping for those to be done in the next two weeks.
Still to do before the tanks are done (I'm waiting on parts for some of it): led sled floorboards, progressive front fork cartridges, 14" apes, engine guard (maybe, maybe not), and new floorboards for the passenger. Once the tins are back, we get to work on reshaping the sundowner seat and putting in gel inserts.
