Gathering parts to molest the breather so it's not dumping unwelcome substances into my engine. Amazon sells the barbs in packs of 5... I guess I can hope 2 of them have good threads. #notmadeinUSA

Also changed out the seat bolt to something I don't need a tool to undo -

Bought a Keihin B83D Carb, Rebuild Kit, and HD brass gas inlet to satisfy my hunger for knowledge about these old carburetors....the same carb that is on my 1980 Ironhead.

Today I modified my stock Custom fender to fit the 48’s fork brace. I had to drill 4 new holes in the fender, but it worked out pretty well. I purchased “hole plugs” from True value and filled in the original mount holes. Hardly noticeable, unless you’re looking for them.
I think the stock fender adds a little “something” with these 49mm forks. Makes you take a second glance if you’re accustomed to how the 2016-18 48’s are styled, with their short front fenders.

Got the electrics routed through the bar.

Before;

After;

Man, don't that look a whole heck of a lot better? I sure am gonna miss those ty-wraps.

Hardest part was drilling the bar, and one Molex pin that just didn't want to unlock. The hail mary was using a different safety pin. Go fig...

I rode it. Beautiful day here in Indiana, 54* and not a cloud in the sky.

Went to Test Fit a Skid Plate today...

...it was looking good until...

...it wasn't.

Too close to the exhaust.

Back to the drawing board.

Well F-me
Trying to fix my mounts / isolators. Got the left side off fairly easily. however, now I cant get the engine 'pry'ed' over far enough to get the mount out on the front.
and the Rear. So I get the first one off, then theres the 3 bolts inside the mount. First one snaps out just fine. but the other two?!
uuggghhh
tried 2 T27 and neither would go, and ended up rounding both of them. Fudge.
of course, they mount to the case, so its not like i can drill them out.
suggestions?

Lucky bragg'n bastard!
Couldn't ride mine in the 54 degree cloudless day since I'm in Florida...
Oh wait... I'M IN FLORIDA!... where it was 77 degrees and not a cloud in sky.

About the only thing that would have made the day any better would have been a ride on my 72... which I'm working on for next year.

I trust your ride was awesome and trouble free.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen or heard all that many bikes this week (did see a couple Sporties). With this kind if weather, I'd be riding all the time.

Right on cue...just heard a bagger blast by.
Couldn't see it, but could hear it... LOUD exhaust, even LOUDER sound system.

I resort to needle nose vice grips in instances like yours. I’ve managed to get some rounded out screw heads fairly easy. Just takes patience..
