Ahh you should be ok then with the valve. As long as the peeling and etching only occurred on the bottom of the tank, you should be fine. Hopefully it doesn't spread to the sides.

Guess I'll see how it holds up at this point.
Thats the only spot (under the tank) that seems to be damaged so
i hate having to work on things, then getting interrupted.
Stupid snow / power outage.

I feel your pain slvrscoobie, we've all paid the stupid tax once or twice in our lives. Some of us (namely me ) have paid it many times.

If the paint is toast, there's nothing you can do about it now except to re-paint, so clean it up and drive on. If it looks good on top, no worries. Keep an eye on the bottom to look out for rust/corrosion issues and if you see some, then resolve to repaint (at least the bottom of) the tank next winter.

Yeah, i just checked again and the top is actually not t-bag to quote my youtube friend AvE. looks like itll need a wash/polish/wax, but other than that, ok. Ill clean up the hit areas underneith with some 4000/8000 grit, and a little clear coat touch up and hope it prevents further damage.
Checked on my plastic trim, whole $11 at HD, least it has the part number on the underside.
Since I bought it, ive been so paranoid about getting gas on my tank during fillups, had 2 rags in my bag (one to clean up a spill, one for the instant wash). and then I go and do this :P oh well. only a tank. Fenders are way worse anyway. sides, this is a go bike, not a show bike.

Not 'today,' but a few days ago: Kinetic 'Coil' pipes on Ms. Block's 48! They've since gone through a few heat cycles and colored up reaaaal nice.

I managed to get the wiring on the tracker project back together.
Picked up a cool 5 3/4" headlight / signal combo and installed some LED signals on the side of the tail section.
The load balancer fit nicely in the headlight bucket and freed up some space under the seat.

Here is a
of the headlight in action.

Rode it to work! 46 when I left the house. Supposed to be a sunny 72 on the ride home though.

Technically not a "today" thing, but the Sporty has a new home too. Finally got a better shed to park in. Details on that will be in my build thread once I'm done. It's not too photogenic yet.

Today I started doing the 49mm front end swap on my 2012 1200 Custom. All in all, it was fairly easy. Even the steering head bearing races came out without incident.
The only issue with this swap that I’ve encountered is, the dash light module from my 12 doesn’t match the speedo housing on the 16-18 48’s. So tomorrow I’ll order the proper connector, and swap it out with mine. Aside from that, I’m waiting for the bottom of the Speedo unit to show up, and trying to decide on ordering a fender or modifying my original front fender to work with the 48 fork brace. 🤔
