Both-

Solid mount vs. rubber may be the biggest difference in the ride...plus since you're keeping it stock, the suspension is going to feel much different.

Ironheads generally need more TLC to keep them happy....and of course carb instead of EFI.

Seeing how you took care of your current Bagster, I expect this one will be a beauty!

Far as carbs and dependability, I'll take carbs, fi works fine till it just quits, carbs give you warning and almost always will at least get you home, even if they start running like crap. I've done my own carb work for over 50 years, so I'm comfortable with them, but can understand if someone without carb experience wonders what kind of voodoo makes them work.
Thanks....the only "carb" work that I've done was on mopeds before I got into motorcycles so a totally different animal. I bought a service manual and part catalog and will be reading up to get up to speed.,,,can't beat hands-on experience.

Well fwiw, most EFI bikes have to complete two entire revolutions
to fire off, so theres no way a kickstarter would work with the
factory EFI.

Yup can't wait to use a lot of elbow grease to get those dull areas to shine.....not...lol.

I guess this is the last year I enter your contest lol as the saying goes...."stock bikes suck"..

It's been pleasure working with all the folks at DK and awesome using DK products for many of my modifications.

Even then they have a minimum voltage requirement for the fuel pump, can't even push start an efi bike with a low battery. But Harley dropped the kickstarter long before efi, none of my carbed Harleys have kicks. Only bike I know of that still has both kick and electric is Ural, and since they went efi a few years ago, the kick wouldn't do much good with a dead battery, either.

Installed DK Custom's 425 Outlaw filter. Looks sharp. Going to install one of their external breather systems but the hose I got in the kit seems way too big to fit the stock breather bolts well. I mean they fit onto the stock breather bolts but even when I tighten the hose clamps WAY down, they are not secured well. I'm going to run by the auto parts store tomorrow to get some smaller tubing and a smaller t-fitting to work with it and use that instead of the tubing that came with the breather kit. Here's what I mean. This is a small piece of the end of the hose I cut off to show how much bigger it is than the fitting on the stock breather bolt:

First good ride since I mounted the Shinko 705's, and the bung-king rear shock lift blocks. Like the tires and the extra clearance, bike seems less stable above 70mph though, due to the lift, not the tires. Took some well known dirt roads, the tires perform well. Replaced the hand grips, went back to the stock ones. Changed oil, adjusted clutch.

Met up with my son, and we spent part of the afternoon out riding. It was a beautiful mid December day here in central Indiana, temps were around 50* and sunny.

Rain supposed to move in tomorrow morning...

It was 51 and sunny. I took myself a nice little ride and got the juices flowing. It was nice.
