What did you do to Your Sportster Today?

With RK airshocks and a big comfy seat, my 1200 handles two up just fine. My daughter likes it better than the Tour Glide for afternoon rides, but I think that's because she enjoys the rear muffler grinding on the road more than the Glide's floorboards...

Folks,
For the ones that use SG / RK air shocks on your sporsters ... i always read that you put 9oz to 10oz of oil on them. That refers to EACH SHOCK ?, or the total oil volume for the 2 of them ? (so 4.5oz to 5oz each) ?.
Sorry if the question is too stupid,
thanks,

Make sure you get all the old oil out. I just put the RK shocks on one at a time upside down with a tube to a catch pan, and pumped the seat up and down a few times, blew it all right out. I took both stock shocks off first, but you need a jack to do it that way. One shock holds the bike fine just sitting there.

I used 9 oz of 5 wt in each of mine, and it seems to work just fine. There's a reason for less oil than the big twins, but I can't remember what it was now. I seem to remember reading if you use too little, you'll get air mixing in the oil and it won't work well, but 9 oz is enough. I think they used 11oz or more on the big twins.

I used 10oz each Amsoil 5wt ShokTherapy. I inverted them &
pumped out the old fluid as well and also let them hang upside
down over night....
good luck,

Got my new solo seat in from Mother Road Customs and replaced my La Rosa solo.
I replaced a 13" x 15" La Rosa with a 12" x 13" antique brown tooled seat from Mother Road Customs.
I swapped out my La Rosa solo seat kit for the cleaner and lower profiled MRC solo kit a while back because the paint started flaking off of the La Rosa kit about 6 months ago.
To put the La Rosa seat on the MRC kit I had to use longer coil springs because the La Rosa seat had a measurement of 8" from the front bolt to the rear bolts on the seat. The MRC kit works better with shorter seats. The measurement on the MRC seat is 7.25" from the front to rear which moves the rear bolts closer to the mounts allowing for a shorter spring. Going for form more than function.
The new seat has a flatter nose than the old one and quite a bit of a kick up in the back. It initially doesn't feel as comfortable as the bigger seat but I have only gone on one short ride. With the bigger kick up on the MRC seat I definitely stay in the seat better when I twist the throttle.
