I suspect the same comment applies to Torx keys! I've had my problems with both cheap Torx keys and EZ outs. Buy once, buy right!

I bought Craftsman. My father always did and it's kind of ingrained in me that they're a good tool. That being said, I found the one set I own (T-Through Handle) to not fit well for the placement and angle of the screws and I think my first mistake was trying to make them work. I bought a second set of smaller folding torx wrenches. They might have fit better but they kept folding back in on me every time I started applying any force. I'm sure it's user error but they're going back. The selection wasn't great in my local Sears store. but with some research I'm finding that there are some ratchet types. I'm guessing they might be a better option but I'll be looking around. I'm sure these aren't the last torx head screws I'll be dealing with if I keep doing my own projects.

Thanks for the advice. Seriously, there's not too many people around me who are into motorcycles much less working on them. If it weren't for this forum, my service manual and YouTube videos, I'd be stumbling around in the dark.

Ouch!! I hope you're ok now.

Yup thanks for your input. Since minmium is 2 7/8", will easliy slide under the bike. Not going to keep it up on the stand so did not need a heavy duty one like J&S. And its about half the cost.

I've only been half paying attention - which jack/lift did you post a picture of ?
Looks like a nice one. I've got the cheap Harbor Frreight one that I use
for quickie "temporary" type stuff, but I'd like to get a nicer one.

thanks,

T.

Oh yeah, a little battered and bruised but skin heals. The worst damage on the bike was a bent shift pedal. Other than that, it looked pretty good and I was able to ride it home (in second gear).

The worst part was having the bike out of commission during the nice days of early Fall. I actually think I got a little depressed no longer being able to jump on it and clear my head on a day off or an evening after a long day.

@WKNDS - it is a Titan MPJ-1500 from J&P Cycles

@tlaw - I feel your pain literally. I am 60 and wanted to lift the bike to ease polishing (and I polish my wheels quite often) and do other maintenance stuff. Beats moving the bike to catch the whole wheel while on the ground..lol.

The only concern is how it will sit on the frame since I had difficulty with my previous generic jack. Will find out soon enough.

I'll be interested to hear how you like it. It's on the more affordable side than some of the others.
