By the way I'm getting some adhesive rubber stoppers to put on my upper belt guard, just to keep the bag a little bit farther away from the pulley sprocket.

I've heard without the special attachment brackets the straps can rub the paint off. Do you guys find that to be true? I'd really like to start with the throwover side arm set (I think that's what it was called) that you have Dane. I like the smaller one that wreck writer just got too.
I don't see myself doing any touring but it would be nice to have a few compartments to throw things in if I want to pick something up when I'm out and about.

Mine is about 1/4 inch away. It looks fine, but I'm thinking it might bump it occasionally and slowly wear it down there.
I've had a leather tank bib on for about a year and it was fine the last time I took it off. There was a sticker on the underside of the bib that I didn't know about, and that scratched up the paint a bit, but the leather itself didn't.
Personally I wouldn't mind if it rubbed some of the paint off there, it's just the strut cover, they don't touch anything else. And the upper pulley guard, you can find those on ebay for like $30 new.
That's the reason I have these bags, I keep tools, bungie cords, first aid, spare safety glasses, disc locks, and some cleaning cloths and cinch bags. Just everyday riding stuff, and some room to spare now for trips to the store etc.
