Frustrating weekend working on my Sporty. Previous owner stripped 3 of the 4 screws the attach clutch lever and master cylinder brackets to the handlebars. He went with bigger screws, but one of these stripped as well. Sigh. Going to replace the brackets, and this time use thread lock and correct torque.
On to exhaust - went to put stock pipes back on. Found a broken chrome clamp attached to pulley cover, and I need some gaskets but no dealers near me are open today.
Not sure if it'll be back together in time to get one more ride to work in this week before the time change next weekend.

Will, that looks cool.
I just came in from 2-1/2 hours in the garage. Replaced the front master cylinder, not because it was bad, but because the threads stripped out of one of the mounting screws. First time I ever did a brake cylinder on a bike, and it's NOTHING like a car. I've been gravity bleeding cars my whole life, easy peasy. But for almost 45 minutes I was going crazy thinking the new (used) cylinder was bad. Finally I realized I had to pump that sucker like crazy, open the bleeder, repeat, like 50 times. FINALLY I started getting some pedal, or should I say, lever. Sheesh!
While I was out there, I put my Cycle Shack slip-ons back on. I wanted to know what the stock mufflers sounded like, so I put those on two days ago. Ugh. Sounded like a 1970s VW Beetle. For now I'll use the Shacks. Next spring I'm going to go for a set of Screamin' Eagles, which aren't as ear-splitting.
I wish I could take a test ride, but it's raining like Noah's ark here in NE PA.
