Very cool Andy. Every Memorial Day we venture out to Antietam to pay respects and remind the kids that the USA gave 300k sons to end slavery.

Finished up the rocker lockers and tested. They did eliminate the sharp tick but it’s still a rackety evo.

I’m not sure they were worth the efforts but I did get to check out the boxes and valves on the 640 mile 1275.

Had a few marks on the bolts too -

It is fascinating to me, an old GenX dude living a spoiled and pampered life by the gifts of past generations. So spoiled and pampered in today’s time that we question the honor of those who bequeathed us these gifts.

What’s really amazing to me is the engineers of that time building bridges, railroads, anything to keep the supply lines open.

Grant has a piece about the Mexican American war in his memoir, he was against it but served alongside Lee, Meade, Longstreet and Jackson. Dragging cannons and general supplies a mile high to take Mexico City, in the heat. Amazing.

Including Lincoln, this is the greatest generation of Americans, IMO.

Got around to pulling the tank and replacing FOR THE SECOND TIME the fuel gauge sensor.

The gauge in the speedo is working again as I had drained the tank, and when I hooked everything back up it showed empty (no bars on the gauge). I put around a gallon back in it and it showed 1 bar where as before it never would go below 2 bars. Wonder how long this one will last...

Thought I read somewhere (perhaps the instructions) that you should fill it all the way up and
"over time" it will learn fuel usage. Also, I'm not positive, but you should not 'keep topping it off'
but rather let the fuel level get closer to empty before you fill it all the way up again...
(but what do I know, I did this ~2014 so my memory of this is probably faulty)

good luck,

T.

I could see that being relevant as far as the bike 'learning' the range, but not the level of gasoline in the tank. I have seen in the past the range go up if I have slowed down speed wise as the engine isn't burning as much fuel since it is spinning slower.

Just change the harness that has the dash lights in. Another one gone bad, corrosion can be seen around the edge.

I forgot to do it last time but this one I have put a coat of varnish on. Third one. All electronics get a conformal coating but the manufacturer of this board and assembly can't get it right.

About 30 minutes later I stepped outside and did a double-take! There was a big puddle under my bike, and it was growing!

I took a quick look and saw it was coming out the oil tank drain hose, around the plug.

Devin grabbed a drain pan and some towels.

Here's a pic of us part way through mopping up the oil.

Attachment 528817

After all the oil finished draining out, it was easy to see what had happened.

The hose clamp had got pinched between the cement lip and the frame, deforming it. It no longer was keeping the hose in a tight seal around the plug.

Attachment 528818

I have ridden up that lip onto the walkway dozens of times...but this time it caught that hose just "right".

We put the plug back in with a new hose clamp, replaced the oil with some new oil.

And NOW I have done what I always thought about doing, but never did....zip-tied that hose up so it is no longer the lowest hanging part at the bottom of the bike.

Your bikes new name is now The Exxon Valdez.🤪
