So you are removing the rear rests? Are you going for a solo seat as well?

We have some ruling that if you have a seat you need pegs for the pillion but I am a bit vague on that.
Yes, I am removing the rear pegs since my wife doesn't ride with me any longer, and I'm removing parts, etc... that I don't need/want on the bike. Removing that ugly cowbell horn off the side of the motor is an example. Swapping out the forwards for mids is another.

I'm staying with the seat that's on the bike now as if/when I needed to, I could rest a pack on it and strap it to the sissybar.

I've never heard anything about having to have pegs if you have a seat that could carry a passenger. That IMO is one of those things that would fall in the category of, man I don't care. We don't have vehicle inspections here in Indiana anyway.

UK regulations at play. No checks no worries!

Removing excess weight is always a good idea.

On my partner's Custom I fitted the bars from a SuperLow for a more upright ride, the bars I can see in your sig pic.

I raised the bars on the Custom to where they are about the same height off the tank as the Superlow.. I know the SuperLow's bars reach back farther, but doing so on the Custom made it feel more comfortable to me. At least sitting on it it feels better, I can't ride it until the mid controls brake pedal gets here, and rain washes all the salt/brine off the roads...

If you are not snowed in, you might consider going to WalMart & purchasing a cheap yoga matt to lie on
when you install those brakets/pedals. Laying on ice cold concrete sucks the life out of me. I have to
have something, even a large piece of cardboard to lay on....

good luck,

T.

When I get down on the conrete garage floor these days, I have trouble getting up on my feet again without the aid of my Sportster to pull myself up.

I have a new oil pressure switch to install as I have no warning light showing when I switch on the ignition, I will wait until the weather is warmer before I get on the floor to install the new switch.

It is no fun getting older and stiffer when you are working underneath your motorcycles engine.

I sometimes use a cheap moving blanket I bought from Harbor Freight to insulate me from the cold concrete.

I know what you're saying, my knees weren't all that great in high school, and at 67 years old I assure you they haven't got any better... I count my blessing though, I'm doing MUCH better than alot of people my age. Praise God for that!

I'm 67 too, born in October 1956, a good riding butty of mine died of bone cancer in October 2021, he was just 60. An ex-partner of mine died of a heart attack in November 2021, she was only 49, that was 16 years my junior, I never imagined she would be taken from her family so soon.

My joints are stiffening, but I thank the lord that I am still alive and able to ride, it makes me feel so much better in body and soul when I hit the highway and ride. Who needs drugs when you get such a high from riding your motorcycle.

You are 2 months older than me as I was born in December of '56. May sound corny but when I am riding, in my mind I am 40 years younger. While I am no where near as aggressive a rider as I used to be, I still enjoy a nice curvy, twisty road! I suppose everyone has something that makes them 'feel younger/brings back memories', for me it is a motorcycle. I thank the good Lord I am still able to do so.
