No bike looks better with a screen, except some touring rigs.
It's quick detach but the mounts still gunk up the fork tubes.
Edit: The windshield does cause turbulence right at my eyeglasses, threatening to pull them off muh face.. Since I can't have that I guess it will make a helmet wearer out of me whenever it's on there. It's chilly out anyway. Put my helmet on and went back out, at 50 mph there is a turbulence that jitters the helmet but at 70+ mph that smooths out and the ride is pretty nice.

Experiment with the angles of it, I have the same shield and I can go 90+ without any wind buffeting and my helmet on. I'm only 5'6" as well so that might make a bigger difference.

Sorry mis read that, I only wear a helmet so I have no experience with out one

I might be able to rock it forward but it's already touching the clutch cable to the rear. I'm 6'1 but it's mostly in the legs.
I'll try moving it more upright.
Edit: Done. It's a nice mount set-up, took 5 minutes to adjust. I'm going for a ride tomorrow, I'll check it out.

On Thursday visited the 3rd party mechanic shop to change tires. Installed cheapo set of Shinko tires, $157 for the whole set, plus $82 for installation. Another guy from local HOG with the same XL1200T got the same tires too.
So, 3rd party mechanics installed tires, balanced the wheels, and over-tensioned the belt. However, I didn't check the belt tension before the service, so I kinda assume that. Anyway, I am happy with savings and amazing wheel balance - no more wobble in the front wheel, overall a very smooth ride on fresh tires.
Today I visited the dealership to show the belt to a mechanic and to make sure that brake pads are acceptable to pass the tech inspection. Yes, he confirmed that it was overly tensioned, adjusted it properly, and washed the bike. Also, he found that the air cleaner assembly loosened out and he tightened it. Then I rode to HOG picnic in the desert.

The last time I quoted original Scorchers in the dealership, the price was about $687 with installation. Many customers now looking for alternatives. In recent days dealership began offering Metzeler tires as well, though I haven't checked their price yet.

Here are those Shinko tires:

FWIW, Metzeler Cruisetecs are not cheap, but I've been extremely happy with them. The Michelin Commander 3 are supposed to be great as well. Both are multi-compound tires for better tread life in straight line riding and better grip when turning. They'll last a lot longer than the Shinkos, thus the higher price. You'll get excellent grip with those, but they won't last long. Enjoy the romp!

Got the pipe back from having the black ceramic removed and getting them polished.

Before

After

I like it way better. The first thing I did was drop a microfiber cloth on them right after the first ride. That was fun. Took me 2 hours with brass wool and blue magic to get that off. What a mess. Had I done that with the ceramic coating there would have been no way to remove it without destroying the finish, so I guess that reinforced my decision to go back to bare stainless. I can always polish stuff out now.

The bike got a wash and wax as well.

Oh, and I installed the bitubo rear shocks.

Lastly, I added a 100th Anniversary sticker to the oil tank as an homage to it's 2003 roots.

All in all the bike came out well.

This was the bike shortly after I bought it 5 years ago and spruced it up a bit. It was a cool rat bike.

It's come a long way.
